Our Values

Public affairs is not neutral work.

It shapes policy, public trust, and the lived experience of people and communities. We take that responsibility seriously.

Our multipartisan firm exists to help organizations navigate complex political environments ethically, transparently, and in service of the public good. We believe influence should be earned through evidence, integrity, and accountability—not manufactured through manipulation, harm, or obfuscation.

These values guide who we work with, how we work, and where we draw firm boundaries.

What We Stand For

Evidence-Based Policy

We believe public policy should be grounded in credible data, lived experience, and rigorous analysis, not ideology, fear, or misinformation. Our advice prioritizes facts, trade-offs, and long-term outcomes over short-term optics.

Democratic Integrity

We respect democratic institutions, processes, and norms. We engage governments transparently and lawfully, and we do not participate in activities that undermine public trust, distort democratic debate, or weaken institutional legitimacy.

Transparency and Accountability

We believe influence should withstand scrutiny. We advocate openly, comply fully with lobbying and ethics regimes, and expect our clients to do the same. Reputation built on opacity is not durable.

Responsible and Ethical Innovation

Innovation matters, but how it is deployed matters just as much. We support technologies, products, and services that are developed and applied responsibly, with clear safeguards for people, communities, and democratic systems.

Public Good and Nation-Building

We prioritize work that contributes to social resilience, economic opportunity, public safety, sustainability, and shared prosperity. We are particularly motivated by efforts that strengthen sovereign capability, critical infrastructure, and long-term public capacity.

Long-Term Thinking

We do not optimize for quick wins that create downstream harm. Our work is grounded in policies, relationships, and outcomes that stand the test of time.

Who We Work With

We work with organizations that:

  • Take responsibility for the real-world impacts of their products and services

  • Are prepared to engage governments honestly and constructively

  • Understand that public affairs is not a substitute for ethical business practices

  • Are willing to evolve when evidence or public interest demands it

We work across:

  • All major political parties in Canada and the United States

  • Select foreign governments and NATO allies, where alignment with democratic norms, international law, and ethical governance is clear

Our role is to help clients navigate complexity, not evade accountability.

Who We Do Not Work With

We draw clear and explicit boundaries. We do not represent organizations whose core business or conduct causes harm to individuals or communities, particularly vulnerable populations, or undermines democratic systems.

This includes, without exception:

  • Tobacco products

  • Gambling and betting services

  • Payday lending or predatory financial products

  • Adult content or services

  • Private prisons or detention services

  • Companies with proven human rights abuses

  • Disinformation operations or influence-for-hire actors

  • Data exploitation businesses, including those that misuse personal data, enable unlawful surveillance, or erode privacy rights

Defence and Security

We will only work with defence-related organizations where:

  • The application is defensive, protective, or deterrence-oriented

  • The work aligns with Canada’s interests and those of its democratic allies (as long as those allies continue to adhere to international law)

  • There is a clear commitment to lawful, ethical use and oversight

We do not support offensive applications designed to cause indiscriminate harm.

Our Position on Vulnerable Populations

We believe public affairs work must account for those most affected by policy decisions, often those with the least voice.

This includes, in particular:

  • Children and youth

  • Seniors

  • Low-income communities

  • Marginalized and racialized communities

  • Newcomers and migrants

  • People with disabilities

  • Survivors of violence or trauma

We will not support strategies that exploit, endanger, mislead, or disproportionately harm these populations directly.

What We Decline, Even When It’s Legal

Legality alone is not our standard.

We decline work that is:

  • Purely obstructionist, intended to delay or weaken regulation that protects public health, safety, or democratic integrity

  • Designed to manufacture doubt, obscure evidence, or mislead decision-makers

  • A form of reputational laundering, where public affairs is used to mask unresolved harms rather than address them

Change, Accountability, and Exit Scenarios

Some industries and practices are off-limits, no matter the circumstance.

In limited cases, we may consider supporting an organization to exit or meaningfully reform a harmful practice, where there is credible commitment, transparency, and measurable change. However, we will not publicly defend practices we believe cause harm.

How We Enforce These Values

Our values are not aspirational statements, they are operational standards.

  • We assess alignment during client onboarding

  • We reassess alignment on an ongoing basis

  • We reserve the right to decline or exit engagements that no longer meet our ethical standards

Protecting our integrity and the public trust, is non-negotiable.

Our Commitment

We believe that public affairs, done well, can strengthen societies, improve policy, and build institutions that serve people—not the other way around.

If you share these values, we are aligned.
If you are looking for influence without accountability, we are not the right firm.
